A Quick Side Project

Bio

Thanks for checking out my digital portfolio. On here I am posting updates of my current video game projects, emphasizing game and level design.

Let me tell you a bit about me. I actually began my career as a real estate agent and later started my own concrete foundation company. These were good experiences, but as my wife and I were expecting our first child, I realized that I want to have a career that I love. For me, making video games was it, and there was no second option. So, a few weeks before the birth of our daughter, I enrolled at Utah Valley University (UVU) full time.

I jumped right into the Digital Media: Gaming and Animation major without hesitation. I've always loved playing video games, but for me it was more than just a fun escape into a thrilling world. When I play a video game, I enjoy the challenge of a good puzzle, I notice the flow of the level, how the lighting affects my mood and directs me where to go, and I pay attention to how 3D assets can be reused multiple times to create new structures or assets. Now, with my education, I have the skills to create these worlds myself.

I graduated from UVU in April of 2014, with two completed games within school, and an iOS game made with a few friends outside of school.

Beyond school and video games, I love spending time with my wife and our three year old daughter, and as my free time permits, fabricating and customizing old motorcycles.

My senior project (Demon Defense) was chosen to be presented at UVU's Senior Showcase. I was able to present the game and also received an award.

My game, Demon Defense, was chosen to be featured at the UVU booth at Salt Lake City Comic Con 2014. We had hundreds of people stop by to play the game. It was awesome to see them enjoying it and helpful to get feedback.

Demon Defense was also a Finalist at the Utah Game Wars competition.
